NewScience is building an AI research agent for biology. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to newsciencex.com, our waitlist and request-access forms, and — as we launch — the research agent itself (together, the “Service”).
We wrote this to be read, not to bury the parts that matter. If anything here conflicts with our Terms of Service, the Terms govern use of the Service; this policy governs how we handle information.
Information we collect
- Contact information. Name, email address, institution or company, and role when you join the waitlist, request access, or create an account.
- Content you provide. Queries, documents, and descriptions you submit to the Service.
- Usage & device data. Pages viewed, features used, IP address, browser type, and standard server logs — collected to keep the Service working and to understand how it is used.
- Communications. Support requests, emails, and feedback you send us.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Operate and improve the Service — running queries, generating reports, and maintaining your account.
- Communicate with you about access and product updates, and — only if you opt in — research or product announcements.
- Monitor and secure the Service, including diagnosing errors and abuse.
- Meet legal and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use your content to build advertising profiles. There is no advertising on NewScience.
AI & your data
NewScience uses AI models to retrieve, rank, and verify published scientific literature. Some processing runs on our own infrastructure; some uses third-party model and compute providers (see Section 4).
- We do not train models on your private content — documents you upload, unpublished work, or workspace data — without your explicit, separate consent. Published literature we index is, by definition, already public.
- This is not a clinical or patient-facing product. NewScience operates over the public scientific literature and whatever your organization chooses to import. Do not submit protected health information or patient-level clinical data through the Service.
- Research content you import is treated as confidential: encrypted at rest and in transit, accessible only to the systems and staff needed to run your request, and deletable on your request.
How we share information
We share information only with the parties needed to run the Service — never with advertisers or data brokers.
- Service providers. Cloud hosting, AI model and inference providers, email delivery, and analytics. Each is bound by agreements limiting their use of your data to providing the service we engaged them for.
- Legal & safety. When required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of NewScience, our users, or the public.
- Corporate transactions. If NewScience is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer as part of that transaction under equivalent protections.
Retention & security
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, plus a limited period afterward to meet legal and accounting obligations. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see Section 6).
We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and audit logging. No system is 100% secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and any relevant authority as required by applicable law.
Your rights & choices
Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. We respect these rights regardless of jurisdiction and aim to respond to every request within 30 days.
In particular: EU/UK residents may exercise rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR and lodge complaints with their local data protection authority. California residents have equivalent rights under the CCPA/CPRA — we do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
To exercise any right, email team@newsciencex.com. We may need to verify your identity first.
International transfers
NewScience and its service providers operate in multiple countries. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we use recognized safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) and require every provider to maintain protections at least equivalent to those described here.
Children’s privacy
NewScience is built for professional researchers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Cookies & tracking
We use a small number of cookies for authentication and essential site functionality, plus privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Where required by law, we will ask for consent before setting non-essential cookies.
Changes & contact
We will update this page as the Service evolves and change the effective date above when we do. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or an in-product notice before it takes effect.
